168. Fanfic is great practice writing. I've learned so much from my betas and readers. If I'd tried to just write original stuff, no one would have ever read it and I would never have improved. I would have sent manuscripts to publishers and been rejected out of hand. Now, I might actually have a chance. I hope if you hate fanfic, you really encourage your friends to write original stuff and offer to read and beta the original stuff they do write. I'm not the sort of person who needs an audience to write, but it's extremely hard to write in a vacuum.
