your question is already so dishonest. who is "we"? what do "we" consider questionable? and why do you believe that japan is different from "us" if you're genuinely not familiar?

First of all, to be clear - I am not the first anon in the thread who said "fucking hell, Japan." So I can't speak to that post.

Second, I want to point out that I'm replying to a person who mentioned various countries depicting horrible things in a questionable manner. They're the ones who introduced that framework, and that's mostly what I had in mind - the conversation that we're having here, in this thread, talking about things like child grooming.

And I don't know how Japanese society at large thinks about that stuff, so I asked. Of course, I know that any general statement about a given society is always going to be an abstraction from the distinct personal views of a huge number of different individuals. That said, it's useful to deal with some level of abstraction to talk about societies and cultures - arguably it's inevitable. And I guess I was hoping someone knew enough to talk in a high level, generalized way about Japanese social mores on these topics.

So that's generally where I was coming from.
