Re: I don't know about any other articles, but...
There's also animals still considered 'at risk' that are doing better for themselves too, such as the blue iguana (critically endangered -> endangered, trend of population increases), and you even have extinct in the wild species with a promising future ahead of them (black-footed ferrets, great bustards in England, Scimitar horned oryx).
I don't think it'd ever be realistic to see these kind of headlines just because it takes so god damn long to properly assess something for IUCN (re)classification + it takes animal populations decades to recover in some cases (for example, there are animals like the Guadalupe fur seal that have gone listed as vulnerable to least concern over the last 20 years) so it can take a long time for positive changes to be apparent. There's definitely positive news out there in conservation, it's just very often overshadowed.
I'm not saying this as an "everything is fine, the biodiversity crisis is solved!!" kind of statement, I'm hopefully trying to point out that there is hope even if it often feels like there isn't
and it makes my field feel like less depressing, pointless bullshit when I think like this, anyway
