134 - It's not just about patience. It's also having NO patience for censorship and terrible dubbing. Honestly, if the American releases were actually of the same quality as the fansubs, I'd pay for them, but I won't pay for something that makes me want to stab myself in the ears or treats me like I'm 7 years old and can't stand the sight of blood.

The licensed subtitles are still crap, since they usually do a ridiculous job of translation -- I much prefer fansubbers' versions, which tend to leave in fandom-specific terminology when appropriate.
And I would certainly disagree on "high-quality" dubbed performances. I've run into exactly ONE anime series (which I do own on DVD) whose dub was actually enjoyable for me. (For reference, it's an older, obscure series: Generator Gawl.) The rest have all ranged from "these people are very obviously doing nothing but reading lines and/or don't give a shit" to "oh sweet Jesus strike me deaf"
