But is it more or less painful than a (properly carried out) beheading or hanging? That's the relevant question here. I mean, the general question of what kinds of punishment are excessively cruel is beyond the scope of this thread, obviously, but the idea that death by burning is more cruel than death by hanging seems like a fairly intuitive one
