I forgot to include it when I submitted the secret, my apologies!

I didn't see this show (and now I def won't) but the more cooking shows I watch the more pervasive this attitude is. that food isn't "cuisine" unless it's French, with some Italian or Spanish techniques allowed as well. yes, irony of the actual word but you know what I mean.

m'goin back to watching Diners Driveins and Dives exclusively, at least Guy is genuine when he loves the shit out of some chicken and waffles or fish tacos.

And IMO French and Italian are some of the most boring cuisines out there. Give me Ethiopian any day... okay, EVERY DAY.

for real, I read French recipes and it's just so. like, take away the French name and it's just beef roast with mushrooms or soup or baked fish.

I'm partial to Thai or Sichuan but I'll taste anything. Ethiopian looks so good, I should find a place around here and try it.

IMO, the show is very much still worth watching because the competitors are a diverse group and they're amazing chefs and really interesting people. Plus each round tackles the cuisine of a different country, so that's more interesting than the usual cooking competition show, too.

You should watch Masterchef Australia. They are, imo, pretty good when in comes to embracing international cooking.

Speaking of racism, it was eyerollingly stupid how that ending went down.

I absolutely agree, the worse was on MasterChef when that asshole Joe was consistently and uncomfortably racist to the competitors. It wasn't even that they 'elevated' their dish, but that style of cooking couldn't be on the same tier as French, or Italian cuisine.
