And they...gave up that privilege because they were desperately unhappy and are often treated worse by society than cis women through and following transition.

I wouldn't say 'worse than' cis women, considering the massive amounts of shit women undergo across the world. Unless you're looking at western women, but then transitioning is in itself a pretty western privilege.
