AYRT—oh, that annoys me too, even though I’ve been guilty of ir myself. But usually that attitude comes from people who loathe a character, and if it’s a character I like I usually shrug it off. But sometimes I sympathize with the people hating my favorite characters, because fans that defend even my fave’s indefensible actions make me wince.

I like a lot of morally grey characters, but even (especially?) when it involves my favorites, I get embarrassed/freaked out when fans start in with the equivalent of “oh poor baby, he felt so bad when that bus full of schoolchildren forced him to kill them, those ungrateful brats have no idea how much he suffered while he listening to their terrified screams.”

Acknowledge that your fave did something bad, ffs, you sound like rl serial killer fangirls.

Oh, yeah, that would annoy the shit out of me too. I love a complicated villain, but I also enjoy living away from a river in Egypt.
