Say a bunch of butthurt Zutarians. The people who watched the show for its own sake and not that of the pairings seem to be just fine with it.

I would have prefered for Avatar to be a show with no shipping or pairings like One Piece. The relationships were ham-fisted and annoying, Mike and Bryan write romance like if they were little kids.

Just because it is a kids show doesn't mean that the romance can be unbelievable and forced. =/ I mean, in EIP, Aang kissed Katara even though she told him she was confused and was clearly uncomfortable. What kind of message does that send out?

I should probably put a disclaimer that, while I may be Zutarian, I don't give a shit that they aren't canon. I just have a problem with the way Kataang was handled.

I suppose that's a valid reason, but still; it was clearly an invasion of personal space and completely uncalled for on Aang's part. I know he's just a kid, but if he thinks he's ready for a relationship with Katara he needs to start thinking of her feelings more; you don't kiss someone when they're clearly not sure about how they feel. It's bloody rude.

Gah, I probably wouldn't have had a problem with that scene if Katara hadn't gone from 'confused' to 'TRU LUV!!111' in the space of three episodes with no onscreen explanation as to why this happened. If the two of them had discussed the kiss, why she felt uncomfortable, and Aang was genuinely sorry for being selfish then I'd probably ship it. Unfortunately, the way it happened completely downgraded Katara into 'the hero's prize' and since she's one of my favourite characters, seeing that happen to her was enough to make me lose respect for the creators.

The message in the scene was that it was rude. That's why Katara got angry and Aang called himself an idiot.

It's separate from whether she eventually wanted to be with him or not, but it was definitely not okay that he planted one on her when she just told him to back off.

I don't care how the ships handled, I personally wouldn't have liked any if Zutara was not the intention (lol shallow is shallow) but whatever, its show, its over there's new fandoms out there.

The only well developed relationship in that show was Sokka/Suki. This is trufax.

My problem is how Bryke handled the fandom aspect -- not the show. For that Bryke are douches, but for the show, pretty final episode was extremely pretty.

Actually, Zutara is just my main ship. I like Maiko too. Doesn't mean I have to pretend like the way the canon handled it isn't ridiculous, though.

but of course you're not going to see this because you're an anonymouse. :< *sigh*
