I hate it when people insist that there is only one 'otp' when it comes to certain stories, especially if it could easily go both ways.

yeah, Cloud and Aerith had something going on. She helped to bring him out of his shell, to inspire him. But she died before they could ever form a deep, long-term relationship. Tifa, I think, could form that sort of relationship with Cloud. It certainly doesn't happen in any of the stories, but the possibility is certainly left open for a future relationship. It's entirely possible for Cloud to love two different women in the course of his life. Would anybody expect a widow or widower to remain single for the rest of their life because someone they were deeply in love with died? Hell no. Don't impose those limitations upon fictional characters either.

That's not even the issue here, I don't think. I think you can ship whatever you want, just don't:

1) Bash other ships
2) Take yourself too seriously

That certainly is plausible--I don't think anyone there is really insisting a future relationship with Tifa or anyone else is out of the question. The website was only created so that the debaters can point the rabid Cloud/Tifa shippers in that direction since they get tired of debating the same points over and over.
