Because while I ship them, I don't think they were each other's "one true love's" first because I don't think that is a thing that exists and second because I don't thin they had enough time together for that sort of thing to develop. They cared for each other and could have developed into something more if given the time. Then he was frozen and ended up waking in the future. She moved on. Both got over each other. She married. He kissed her niece. They weren't in love anymore (I don't believe). Steve's mourning for her was mourning for his lost past.

I want them to move on because that's what they'd already done. They had moved on. Making them go back to each other wasn't true to the characters. It simply wasn't a believable character development, at least in my opinion. It was a disservice to both of them and the journey they were on. They were over each other. They had lives outside of each other. Steve had Nat, Bucky, and Sam. Peggy had Jarvis and Shield. What, now, he's going to just live through the past, knowing what was done to Bucky, allowing it to happen, just so he can be with Peggy? That isn't true to who Steve is. That doesn't make any sense.

I think, so much. Yes, they *did* love each other, probably a lot. But they were also thrown together in war time, constantly in danger, constantly having to do the kinds of things in war that make soldiers 'brothers in arms'. Which is to say, if Steve had come home back then, they woudln't have made a go of it, but....

I think Steve and Peggy would have fallen out of love, especially if they'd tried to have that 'white picket' life (which Steve *did* want before the war). I think their romance and relationship really needed all the action and craziness to thrive.
