Wouldn't it be funny if your friend was doing the same ? You could watch what she recs but let her believe you didn't. That way, you can both discover something new that you could enjoy and still get your petty on.

The secret makes it pretty clear that OP was originally watching her friend's recs for quite a while, but her friend wasn't reciprocating even then, so eventually OP quit. So it doesn't really make sense to suggest they're both doing the same thing.
