I take your point and I don't object to Pollution being Chinese but at the same time, it's broadly the case that the system of industrial capitalism in general is a product of Europe and the West. I don't think it's unique to China, and I don't think that we should necessarily single China out for criticism with regards to its environmental record simply because they do other bad things, like being a regressively authoritarian and borderline-totalitarian state actively interning at least a million members of ethnic minorities.

China is alone responsible for just shy of 29% of the CO2 emissions in the world.

They absolutely get singled out on this fam.

And the fact that they have only at this point so heavily embraced 'industrial capitalism' makes them more complicit, not less.

+1

Like everyone's throwing wood in the fire, but China's pretty much in the center of it with a big ass bottle of gasoline.

So, as usual, every great folly of mankind can be traced back to white European people.

Who cares?

Honestly, people are so obsessed with making everything white peoples fault, and it's doing everyone more harm than good. Where you're not technically wrong, what good does that perspective do in the grand scheme of things? It doesn't change who's most guilty NOW, and NOW is always more important than any other time, because it's the only time where action can be taken. Sure, we can learn from history, and we can work toward a better future, but we can only solve current problems NOW. China's pollution won't stop if we're bogged down by "white people" all the time.

I'm not trying to be hostile. I just honestly do not see your point there, that's all. Like, even if it does feel hypocritical to judge China, it still doesn't change the fact that they're the most polluted country, does it? And honestly, is hypocrisy the worst thing in this world? I don't think it is.

All I'm saying is that there would also be a reasonable justification for having the character be white.

Sure. But there's reasonable justification for the character being Chinese, too, so again. Who cares? White villains are a dime a dozen, just like white heroes.
