103. Why don't you shut the fuck up about it? If you don't like it, go find another community. They're allowed to talk about whatever the fuck they please whether or not it annoys you.

110. She's not really anorexic, is she?

111. I hate this! But I definitely encourage your pursuit and I hope you get it out one day.

116. Just remind yourself that it's not a big deal.

134. lolwut

149. This is basically the stupidest policy I've ever seen. And since when is liking gen unimaginative? Yeah, 'cause smut just requires so much imagination...

On top of it all, I bet you don't even blink at people who don't have a single f/f pairing.

166. Fucking Alliance.

It isn't and I don't think it is, but how is it any more imaginative or worthy than gen?

I personally think writing good romance is harder than gen. I can't write it myself (I don't write fanfic, but I do read it) and I admire the people who get it right. Bad romance/shipping is in droves. Doesn't mean good stuff doesn't exist.

I like lots of gen stories and will happily read them; they are just as good, but are in general a bit easier to write well.

166. I know. ;_;

I actually believe you really need to be imaginative to write gen fic. Seeing past the ships/romances and sticking to a plot or maybe a story about friendships. I wish there was more of it sometimes.

Just adding, not that I don't think het/slash fics have plots because omg, there are some excellent ones out there. But I know I find it hard to ignore pairing people up when I'm writing.

As for the OP, I call troll. Or they're really really ignorant. :\

I'm sure there are excellent ones out there, yeah, but I think that on the whole, writing about romance is less imaginative than writing about gen, especially since there are so many people and so much pressure to do the former rather than the latter.

OP might be a troll, yeah, but I felt it was worth saying.

I basically agree with you, but please don't equate romance with smut.

I don't think there's really a difference between writing romance and writing gen. Sure, Romance has the completely OOC drivel that's just an excuse to get two characters together in less than an hour's worth of writing, but gen has the equally OOC drivel where the characters run around shouting about random things in an excuse to create humour with the same lack of effort.

Romance is really just another type of character development. I really don't see the difference between friendship stories and romance in terms of story dynamics, for example. They're just different types of relationships, and just because someone likes to read about one and not the other, there's no need to consider the other lesser in any way. It's just a matter of taste.

It was kind of tongue-in-cheek.. I noticed a different pre-Blelf though.
