Me but with those fandom teas, I don't like tea but I was like "you think Sherlock tastes like *what*???" because I can see what's all tossed into the mix but I don't have the recall ability to figure out what those ingredients taste like individually and know what they'd taste like together.

I was just thinking of the fandom teas, too! I like tea, but blends aren't really my thing, especially when they're a bunch of flavors thrown together.

I love tea-tea, and fandom tea blends were by nature about the cutesy ingredients. Herbal, that is.

Indeed. I'm not a huge fan of herbal "tea" in the first place so when people talk about fandom teas and tea blends and you find out it's herbal with a bunch of other stuff in it that's based on the character and not flavor... it's probably going to taste like mulch.

Tends to smell pretty odd, too.

Source: I've been gifted a lot of fandom teas despite my lack of interest in it.

Maybe you could do coffee drinks.

Sherlock Holmes = a tall, dark, bold iced triple espresso with some odd mystery flavor added
Steve Rogers = a large, hot, strong blonde americano, with a shot of vanilla (and maybe some Irish whiskey)

Mystery flavor: the gallon of gingerbread syrup left over from Christmas

Hee! I like these!

I actually ship Johnlock, but I nonetheless feel that whatever "mystery flavor" is in the Sherlock drink should be a little off-putting. Maybe a shot or two of juniper from the Christmas lineup? IDEK, lol.

Incidentally, I once discovered that if you put peach flavoring in black coffee, it tastes like cough syrup and dirt. It is vile. But I think that might be a little too off-putting, even for a Sherlock beverage. :P

Lol, the juniper would be perfect

ayrt

Thanks!

I do think it should be a little off-putting, but I think the flavor should be one that can't quite be identified. Very much an acquired taste, but one Watson and, like, three or four others ask for.

I love the idea of these, but in practice they seem doomed to fail. Scent is just way too subjective, imo. There's just no way that the scents one person associates with a character are going to be remotely the same scents another person associates with that character. And like, even if the majority of people agreed on a couple of core scent ingredients for a character, the way they're mixed makes a huge difference in the final fragrance, so five fragrances that all have the same key ingredient can smell very different.
