You might have 2020 vision, but do you have 2100 vision?

I think more of the world will have gotten its head out of its ass about global warming, but it will probably be a little too late. At least, quite a bit more land will be under water, there will be a lot more extreme weather, and such. There may still be time to fix things, but it will take actively changing the environment rather than just stopping doing the bad things.

And you obviously care nothing for people who don't share your opinions, so forgive me for not taking your bleeding heart seriously here.

If anything, given that your opinion is that you don't care if the entire human race including billions of people now living die, I feel like "prick" is understating it

Sure. But, despite that, most people still generally tend to consider that life has some kind of moral value. We consider it generally bad if people die, especially if they die violently or suddenly or in a way not of their choosing; we go to great lengths to prevent people from dying; we consider it morally wrong to kill people, even though their eventual death is an inevitability. So, for all of those reasons, most people would consider it bad for all of the human race to go extinct over the course of the next 80 years, even though humans are fundamentally mortal.

And on top of that, if your theory of the case is that human lives don't matter, I'm not sure where you have the standing to object to me calling you a prick. Who cares? You're going to be dead anyway, so what does it matter if your feelings are hurt?

Admittedly it's from the other reply, but "you obviously care nothing for people who don't share your opinions" certainly reads that way to me.

My bad, I meant it as general misanthropy, not a personal objection.

I wouldn't say ayrt is a prick, but more of an extreme pessimist. Given humanity's history, I can honestly see why someone would take the view that the human race should be wiped out, even if I don't agree with it.

My personal opinion is that I'm justified in saying that anyone who thinks that I should die is a prick.

I can see that view too.

Extinction rates being what they are, life will be much less diverse.

Scotland's main export will be fresh water and then electricity we make from the waves and winds we get hit with.

Fuel will be rationed and it will all be about public transport on cards we top up each week. And, there will be a lot less meat eating. For a variety of reasons.

I hope it's better, for my great (great great?) nieces and nephews and everybody else, as I will have been dead for awhile by then.

Same here. I've found it difficult to get excited about the birth of the great nieces and nephews because I know they're going to have shit lives.
