Heh, you do you nonnie. If it's fun, you don't need to justify it to anyone.

Are fic MSTings not a thing anymore?

I absolutely love them and I wouldn't care if someone did one of mine. something I wrote already showed up on WTF fanfic and I just thought it was funny.

I know they're not allowed on ff.net which is a crying shame, since there used to be some really great ones before ff.net purged most of them

oh god. oh my. that had to be as painful to write as it was to read, anon.

let's not go back t0 2004 after all.

Aw man, fic MSTs used to be a thing back in the day! I totally understand why they fell out of vogue, they were unwelcome "criticism" at best and genuinely mean-spirited at worst, but I used to MST my own fics and I had a blast with it. It didn't mean I thought my fic was bad or out of character, just... it was fun to think of the same characters, out of the fic's context, reacting to things happening to them "on-screen."

I should do that again, even if it's just drawer-fic, haha.

I've never considered this before, and thank you buddy, because I'm about to start doing it right about now! Hell yeah!

This used to be a standard thing in fic headers and in MST3-ings in the early 2000s, so you're not alone there! I remember at least one fic where the author posted the fic, and the next day posted the same fic interspersed with the canon characters commenting on it, line by line!

THIS IS LITERALLY ALL I DO. I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE!

Thank you anon, you have made my day

I do the same thing when I'm watching film/TV adaptations of books or comics! Or even remakes of older shows/movies. Anything where I already have a 'canon' version of the characters in my head, I like imagining their commentary on the new version.

Doing this made watching Endgame 1000% more fun for me, tbh.
