I feel like I have seen this secret a million times. This one is one of the cuter appearances, though. Peanut Butter and jelly!

It sucks but it's also so hard to avoid being resentful in a situation like that. I get it.

Me @ Stucky, lmao. I was anywhere from ambivalent to somewhat enjoying the gay aspects of TWS when I first saw it, but holy fuck, that fandom. 100% ruined the ship, and now I cringe when I see Bucky in general.

I saw this secret and immediately thought of Stucky and Bucky too.

Funny because this is how I felt about Steve/Tony way back at the beginning of the movieverse fandom, before TWS. I was shipping Stucky right from First Avenger. But after the first Avengers movie, it seemed every fic was Steve/Tony, which I didn't get because they barely had any scenes together (I get they have more of a thing in the comics, but comics are not the same as the movies). I was so happy when that died down.

+1000

Though Steve/Tony wasn't just the juggernaut after The Avengers--where they did at least interact some. It was the juggernaut pre-Avengers, when they'd had no canonical MCU interaction at all.

And iirc the second biggest ship at the time was Clint/Coulson, based solely on the characters exchanging a couple of sentences over radio in Thor.

Those were dark times.

Me too except that I embrace my pettiness. I ship A/C and the shippers still shove B into every fic. I used to be able to avoid him but now I hate A/B and B with a fiery passion.

I'm also sick of another character I was neutral-to-positive about because there's this one person on discord who will not shut up about them. Every conversation turns into one about this character, no matter how irrelevant they are to it.

haha, I had a very similar experience on Discord as well. A Spiderman stan (who is/was also an extremely needy writer who needed to workshop Every. Fucking. Plot. Point. Of. Every. Fucking. Fic) completely turned me into a knee-jerk Spidey hater.

The best thing you can do as a Spider-Man hater is consistently spell it Spiderman, so well done there.

I love MCU Spider-Man, but as an MCU noob who had to look up the right way to write Spider-Man twice (I forgot the first time), this comment has me loling.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-03 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
lmao oh man I had a kneejerk reaction for Spider-man a few years ago. Which sucked because I genuinely liked several versions, but his stans!

I'm starting to develop one for MCU Spider-man now.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-03 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'm developing one to the MCU Spider-man from the fact that his plot always boils back to Iron Man worship. I like this version of Spider-Man, but I'm just not interested in hearing more about how amazing Tony Stark is and how no one can measure up to Tony Stark. It sounds like this next movie is entirely centered around that. I may skip watching it all together.

ayrt

Haha. For me it's mostly everyone who keeps telling me they didn't like or outright hated Spider-man before but MCU Spider-man is the best. Have your fun but what makes someone think that if they never liked Peter Parker before but now do with the MCU version, that's a rec to me?

Plus, everyone harping on what a cinnamon roll he is.

I'm also pretty disinterested in what I've heard about Peter being a 'mentee'. It wouldn't have mattered who the superhero mentor was for me, but never cared about the Avengers so that just made it worse.

Oh, yeah, I've definitely been guilty of this, too. I think last time it was Bilbo/Thorin which made me hate Bilbo.

This is the way I feel about LoVe in Veronica Mars. I never say anything though because everyone loves them so much. Just hoping that the new show won't focus on some stupid breakup between them just so we can end the season with the two of them getting back together.
