as an actual internet vendor of novelty things, you do whatever the fuck you want to the product. I don't lovingly craft one of a kind items that feel like my babies, I smash materials together into a finished product that I think is worth your money. if you get it and decide it's not exactly up to your standards, well, you already bought it, what should I care if you want to mod it a bit? have at it. you're not asking me for a refund, after all, so I already love you.

unless you're talking about, like, an actual piece of art. I imagine artists are a bit more touchy than a crafter like me.

It wasn't a commissioned piece, nor an actual painting or sculpture. It's actually jewelry, but kind of artsy jewelry? But yeah, I figured I was putting too much thought into it. It's just that I know the effort that goes into making jewelry (if you're not used to it), and that everyone is different.
