As much as I would 100% want to know if I were in the wife's position, I still say stay out of it. As other people have pointed out, a lot of people are in unhappy marriages; that doesn't make it our place to insert ourselves into the situation.

If it makes you feel any better about keeping quiet, the truth is that the wife probably knows the marriage isn't working. She may not know why, but she still probably knows it's not working. And so far, she's made the choice to stay.
