[Image: four cartoony pictures of the moon revolving around the Earth. The moon is saying, in order; "Hey, Earth. Earth? Why'd you stop?", "Oh no. Are you OK? Earth, are you OK?", "Don't be scared, Earth! I can help!", and "I'm here, Earth. Your moon is here."]

Text: I find this little comic really adorable. In fact, it taps into some of the things I find romantic in couples, though I don't know if I'd go so far as to ship it.

Secret because it's a humorous comic in a semi-serious book meant to illustrate what would happen if the Earth stopped spinning. I probably shouldn't be getting warm fuzzies from it.

It kind of reminds me of that gifset on Tumblr where a real snake cuddles up to a fake snake, and there is a caption that says something like "Friend snake, are you alright? I am concerned"

Why do people on the internet love baby talk so much?

I swear I can't look at cute dog videos without obnoxious text like "IM GOOD PUPPER GIV ME SNAK PLS" all with obnoxious stock kiddie background music.

I fucking HATE baby talk! It's so creepy and annoying. It's only acceptable when someone is talking to their own baby or pet. Adults talking like that to other adults on the internet? Creepy af!
And the cartoon just makes me think stalking orbiter, so... not cute.

I'm the opposite. Talk to your baby like a person. Baby talk is stupid, it's not like they understand you better if you talk stupidly.

But on the Internet it's fine. It's just a meme.

DA

Baby talk forms part of the normal chain of language development. Leave people alone to talk to their babies the way they damn well want to.

oh fuck dog baby talk

i read an article about it once and had to stare at the wall for half an hour after "once in a while they do each other a frighten"

Ugh, yes! I HATE the stupid childish lingo that dog-obsessed people used. I was once told that "dog culture" is a thing...fuck you, no it's not!

???

What does this have to do with comment you're replying to? There isn't any baby talk in it, nor in the cartoon in the secret.

What, an obnoxious stalker?
When someone calls you an "orbiter" it's not a good thing.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-05 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
I think it is ok when you are LITERALLY the moon.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-05 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
That is cute, you're right

(Anonymous) 2019-07-05 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's cute, but I definitely don't get any warm fuzzies over it.
