It really is. But then - a huge majority are from South and Central America - the countries we spent the last 100 years or so fucking over hardcore in all sorts of gross, secret ways.

It's nuts that we made those countries *worse* than the mess we are right now, or at least - even our horror-show of a country currently looks better, which is just all kinds of depressing.

Well...honestly, as pissed off, horrified, and disgusted as i am at America right now, this is my country. And i'm gonna stay here and kick it back into shape.

With the help of several hundred million like-minded Americans, I hope, but.... Gonna try.

I know you’re trolling, but most of the problems with America don’t impact me nearly as much as they would if I weren’t white, didn’t live in one of the most liberal states, didn’t have a union job with good healthcare, hadn’t inherited my house, and so on. Despite not making much money, I’m a very lucky American.

But for people who aren’t lucky, America really can be a shithole. Our rates of child poverty and poverty in general are heinous. The dominant American culture encourages a distrust of science, education, and facts that is straight up dangerous. Our health care outcomes suck compared to other countries that spend less per capita for better results while offering care to everyone regardless of ability to pay.

Are there countries that are worse? Of course. And many of the refugees being turned away at our borders or interned in camps without baths or room to lay down are coming from countries that American foreign policy turned into shitholes. The least we can do is help refugees that are our fault in the first place.
