OP's whole secret is literally telling people that they should leave more comments

(Anonymous) 2019-07-06 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
...which isn't the same thing as begging for comments at all. Seriously, are you even reading the secret before you respond?

True on some level, but I think you're missing the nuance. OP's secret is more about how they were afraid to leave a comment on a story they liked because the story was old, and how DELIGHTED they were that the author commented back.

The secret is about human connection.

I agree! But I can also understand how someone might reasonably interpret it (even if it's not correct) as imperatively telling people that they MUST leave comments.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-06 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I can, too. There are lots of people out there who can't/won't read things thoroughly before farting out a wildly off base response. It's common. I will disagree that it's reasonable.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-06 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
That isn't reasonable at all, what the fuck? You're stretching so far you could slap the moon out of orbit. Literally all the OP says is that if you come across an old fic that you already want to leave a comment on but are afraid it's weird, do it anyway, because it's a nice thing to hear from the writer's perspective! You're the only one reading this shitty entitlement into it.
