Alcohol has killed people. People have died of alcohol poisoning. Alcohol use comes with a lot of health risks too.

Decriminalizing, legalizing and regulating marijuana use, sale, and research can actually provide us with more insight into the real positive and negative effects of marijuana. Most studies are done under strict rules and only small quantities and only target very specific uses and risks. If we want to understand the drug better we need to study it more. What if marijuana can help people who suffer from epilepsy or PTSD? We won't know for certain until researchers can do extensive studies on it.

But why should we completely legalize before the research is gone. Why not do it in phases? Legalize it one bit at a time. Start with what we know. Start with medical marijuana. And legalize it for research purposes. But wait to legalize it for other purposes until more research is done.
