>Considering their track record with their LA movie remakes

They seem to be doing pretty great at the box office except for Dumbo. So they must be doing something right.

Regardless, I guess we will see if Disney made the right move when we see how well it does in China. The original didn't do well.

Yep. People keep saying the remakes are bad like that is an objective fact everyone agrees with. I thought several of them have been quite good.

I hated some of them, loved others. Yes, Disney has money-grubbing motives for pumping out these remakes but that doesn't mean the filmmakers involved are all just cynical about it.

Box office isn't exactly a sign of quality. And once again, nobody tells you you shouldn't like the movies. I thought all so far have been mediocre at best and I'll not hold my breath that it'll change.

And let's first wait and see if it's even screened in China. I don't really see this doing much better considering China already has a number of Mulan films of their own.

Looking at the list of movies about Hua Mulan, there are not actually that many? The most recent was in 2009. Before that, the most recent was an animated film in 1998 where all the characters are animals.

And you have to be pretty naive to think it won't do well. China loves Disney. And this is a Disney movie about a Chinese folklore hero. Disney will likely even add extra scenes into it just for Chinese audiences like they have done for their Marvel movies.

There's always a very good chance the movie won't screen at all or only with very intense censoring because China is currently going wild with that shit.
