I personally think they have made the wrong choice in making Ariel black, and I think it is 100% only because they are trying too hard to be diverse. Ariel has always been white, all the way back to the blood soaked original tale, and imo always will be.

"Ariel" didn't exist in the blood-soaked original tale and there are basically no similarities between the characters beyond "they're both the titular mermaid".

I agree. Also her look will have to change because I don’t think the bright red hair and blue eyes will look good. It’ll look too cartoonish. If they’re going for “realism” like with the previous movies they’ll have to subdue it a bit.
