Lucky you, the one and only time a friend dragged me off to a café you could have one industrial-not-bakery-made croissant OR two miserable pieces of cardboard fluff masquerading as toast, one bit of unsalted butter, one plastic cup of industrial apricot marmelade, the chocolate was machine made, I dared not ask about the tea, all of this for an outrageously high price.
I was expecting a REAL breakfast with pain de campagne and real marmelade and honey and freshly squeezed juice and YES at least a bit of cheese and maybe even though I personally won't eat it some ham? but no. Fuck pretentious cafés, province does it so much better.

That sounds awful. When I was in Paris staying with someone who lived there we had hot chocolate and bread for breakfast every morning. We dipped the bread in the hot chocolate....

So I assume at their home, with bread bought from a real bakery, and hot chocolat they did themself on the stove? I swear, tourist traps should be forbidden or something!
