I don't think that's the distinction OP was making.

I read it as, it doesn't matter whether it's for cosplay or any other personal reason, OP is tired of people telling them "it's okay to be fat" as though they're secretly(?) doing it because they care about others' opinions instead of for themselves

I think my point is - if you say you're losing weight for cosplay reasons, of course people are going to say you don't need to lose weight for cosplay reasons, because it is true that you don't need to lose weight for cosplay reasons.

But OP didn't say "they need to lose weight for cosplay reasons," they said they want to.

Then other people are going like "you don't need to" and they're going "who said it's a need? It's what I want to do"

Where's the assumption that OP feels pressured or desperate except in those people's heads?
