People and media regularly glamorize or romanticize smoking, drinking, hard drug use, thinness, compulsive spending, gambling, and frequent unsafe sex with many different partners. They also sometimes portray the idea that those things have bad sides if taken to an extreme, sure, and yes, people are widely in agreement that those things are bad if taken to extremes, but that doesn't mean that glorification of those things is not widespread in the culture at the same time.

(And to be clear, I don't really have a problem with media that glorifies those things myself, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander)
