Honestly I think they weren't terrible but weren't great. My feelings about them are complicated. But the thing is, my dad was always a super strict parent. Both of them were. So he's sort of the opposite type of parent with animals that he was with me.

DA - I could have written this. My relationship with my parents is still rather complicated. We lived with them for two months recently and I couldn't believe what my dog got away with and the stuff they encouraged him to do. But they had all kinds of weird rules for me and my partner and there were a few arguments.
