everybody knows how to use google it's just not always the most natural way to figure something like this out

Something like this, maybe not. But most of the time when people can't be bothered to Google, it's not because Google isn't the "natural way", it's because they can't be bothered.

Do you know how many times I've googled something niche and it's brought me to a message board? So many fucking times. And unless somebody has "google it" copied on their clipboard, in the time that you typed that you could have answered the question.

I never claimed Google was the best option all the time, for every single question. But let's face it, people often have questions that could be Googled, but they don't do that. It isn't because Google isn't "natural" (because LOL what does that even mean), it's because they don't want to do the work, they want someone else to do the work for them.

" And unless somebody has "google it" copied on their clipboard, in the time that you typed that you could have answered the question."

Assuming the person responding actually knows the answer and doesn't have to Google it for themselves. But even if they do know it, you know what? They're not obligated to answer someone who can't be bothered to Google.

Then why say anything?

You could say the same about people who expect strangers to be their own personal Wikipedia, really.

In this case, google isn't much help. And remember that google personalizes google by a person's past searches, so "red" and "fandom" might bring up red shirts in men's medium (m/m) with fandom phrases. Or the many movies with red in the title.

Then just don't answer? When ayrt said that google wasn't 'natural' I assume they meant that most people's instinct is to opt for human interaction (which holds far more nuance and is likely to lead to a more correct answer) than floundering round on a search engine when you don't even know the context of what you're trying to look up. Nobody is forcing you to 'do work'. And if it's the human interaction bit that bothers you, why spend the same amount of energy telling them to google?

"everybody knows how to use google"... not so sure of that, lol.
