Because that is what they are called in marketing. Like, you can by Classic Disney Collections.

Also, classic doesn't mean "sacred". Classic Rock just differentiates from 90s rock or modern rock. It is also generally music between 60s-80s.

so you believe it because a commercial said it.

I believe it because that is how EVERYONE uses it. So, when talking about the movies, saying "classic Disney" lets people know what you are talking about.

You know how I know it works? Your pedantic ass knows what anon was talking about.

people who write commercials love people like you

Everyone calls them that. Just like everyone calls 'ear swabs' g-tips. Or escalators? Or band-aid? Or crock-pot? Jell-o?

When someone says they want to throw a frisbee do you slap the flying disc out of their hand screaming about how the only reason they call it that is marketing?

Do you knock popsicles out of the hands of children because they called it a popsicle instead of an ice pop?

Sorry you want to go on some weird rant about commercials. Can you tell me about chemtrails too?

no, not everyone calls them that. People who are not Disney fans don't call them that, and no, of course I don't do that other stuff, I'm just not a Disney fan.

You are not a Disney fan, yet you know what the term "Classic Disney" means. Yet, you say only Disney fans would know that term. Interesting.

People who are serious students and critics of animation use the phrase.

the word 'classic' is literally on the dvd boxes, ppl call them that bc of that. it's not a disney fan thing.

"After the early years of Walt Disney's pathfinding feature-length cartoons, we entered into a long, dark age in which frame-by-frame animation was too expensive, and even the great Disney animation team began using shortcuts."

"Here at last, once again, is the kind of liberating, original, joyful Disney animation that we all remember from "Snow White," "Pinocchio" and the other first-generation classics."

-- Roger Ebert, Review of "The Little Mermaid," 1989.

I'm not gonna go look up every review of a Disney movie Roger Ebert ever did.

That was me. I was being sarcastic. Because he isn't but he still uses Disney classic because it is common vernacular.

People were talking about classic-era Disney animation and the renaissance well before the current wave of remakes. With good reasons because they were extremely good works that pushed both animation and mainstream cinema forward in many ways.
