I think this is very cool for people who have long wanted to see Cats, but could never afford to/get to a city where it was playing.

I wish they would do more filming of actual Broadway productions and put them in the movies for us poor/non traveling folk. (I know it's not a Broadway production that was filmed, but so many shows could be filmed and marketed....)

Yes. I'd love to be able to watch them at home! Plays and musicals have been something I've really missed since I got too sick to travel.

They can probably chill on Les Mis though. I feel like a new one comes out every six months.

There is Fathom and other syndication of live shows, but they seem to drop in and out of markets.

There has been a very good film version of the Cats stage show for 20 years though. This creepy CG version is just unecessary.
More official tapings of shows would be great though.

I've never seen the film version, i'll have to look it up.

I don't think this is creepy at all, but YMMV.
