Like you, I'm just boggled that they did it at all. When it was going on, I was just, "wow, this is really wonderful, go them, wish I could go as well!"

And now I'm more like, "HOW THE HELL DID THEY DO IT?" It would be an incredible achievement today, to put people on another world, let alone half a century ago. And they did it less than 70 years from the first ever heavier-than-air powered flight.

I think it was Buzz Aldrin who said that they didn't fully realise that they'd reached another world until the lander thumped on the Moon's surface. What a moment that must have been. "We've arrived." I fully support him in punching that conspiracy theorist who said they never did it. I'm not an advocate of violence in general! But that time? Fully justified.

I'd like to see more about the other landings. As massive in their own way, just not the first.
