Sure, there's a lot of unnecessary crap out there, but most people? How many people are working shitty jobs to make the things others benefit from? Just off the top of my head, sanitation workers, construction workers, factory workers, etc. And that's not to mention the non-shitty jobs that are really important, like doctors, teachers, police, and so on. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to do a "productive" job, and instead do something you enjoy--hell, the world would be a worse place without the entertainment industry and writers and theater people--but to look down on the people who make a living is utterly absurd. Are the OP's parents the real losers, for giving her money to live? All types are needed to make the world work, and I'd like to see you (I'm assuming you're the same anon) function in a society where no one "mindlessly accepts" the world.

Oh, I didn't mean the dropping out of high school specifically. It makes me twitchy, cause I think having a high-school level knowledge of writing and science and so on is a very good thing to have, but people can accomplish things (and educate themselves) without a high school degree. It'll be a lot harder for the OP to find jobs to support themselves, though.
