Alistair isn't a good king but I married him so he had an excellent queen to actually rule and let him be the pretty face np.

Well Alistair is a warden so he can’t have kids anyway (at least not without Morrigans magic ritual). Certainly not with another grey warden.

Wardens are extremely unlikely to have children. Fiona says in the Calling that her having Alistair was way against the odds and that was with a non-Warden. World of Thedas describes Wardens as infertile and Gaider said that two Wardens are entirely unable to conceive together, so Alistair and the Warden will not be having any biological kids. If you had Alistair do the Dark Ritual his kid with Morrigan could be the heir, I guess!

I think we're all forgetting that Alistair is a bastard, so legitimate children isn't the biggest of deals.

For what it's worth, there's no heir to the throne in ANY of the potential world states, regardless of who sits on the throne and who marries whom. This seems to be set up to be a plot point in later games/side material (if the franchise survives that long).
