Some longtime fans are upset that Pokémon they've had with them for long as 16 years won't be be playable in the upcoming games, are disappointed with the further casualization of the games, among other things.

I was very surprised to hear that not all pokemon would be included in the newest mainline entry, and the first on a home console no less.

Sure it would have taken extra dev effort, but it just seems lazy. That feature is important to people.

Gotta catch em all, right?

What was even more baffling was that it was revealed (at the end of gameplay stream demo few people watched no less) a week or so after Pokémon Home had been announced. Pokémon Home's predecessor, Pokémon Bank, had the ability to store and transfer every Pokémon, so it was assumed Home would be able to transfer any and every Pokémon to Sword and Shield.
