102. ...do I know you? If so tell me in IM.

105. Man, I loved that episode so much, but yes, I think the creepy weird stuff is generational and inescapable; I always have.

109. I am not young enough to have her as a role model. But I approve.

115. I suspect people like it because it is creepy.

127. For me it was the books themselves.

146. I feel your pain; for me it's vids.

148. I just don't want it to be.

160. Disapproval is not as painful as you think it is.

N!S1: Why don't you just not read us? Mostly we are out of the fandom, but we still have the right to mourn something we once loved.

TB!2: I think, in general, people would have liked some acknowledgement that "they all lived happily ever after" does not HAVE to take the form of marriage, baybeez and a white picket fence, particularly since the only canonically gay character was in love with Mr Wizard Nazi and never loved again. The last two books are full of what feels to many readers like very forced heteronormativity, particularly given that the two characters most commonly perceived as queer were forced into a marriage that didn't even work out and left their child an orphan. Nobody who still liked the books at the end of DH wanted everyone to be miserable. But a lot of readers didn't give a rat's ass who married who, because so effing what? Being married is no guarantee of happiness. Neither is having babies. And who knows how long those marriages will last or what they're like? There was much more interest in what they might be doing for a living. Also, the dialogues between the parents at the train station pretty much gave the impression that the situation between the four houses had yet to be resolved and that the tension was such that another dark lord might easily arise. It didn't feel like "happily ever after". It felt like "second verse, same as first, a little bit faster and a whole lot worse."

That is why most of the people I know hate the epilogue. As for Albus Severus...idk. I would just not name a child after two people if one of them had killed the other, regardless of any pact between them. It seems like a really bad omen, you know? I know OBHWF is canon, but a lot of people did not like it or even see it before Book 6. It just seems like the message is "There's only one way to be happy," and since that way of being happy doesn't work for a whole fucking lot of people, people resent the message. Particularly when paired with the Dumbledore/Grindelwald revelation.

Nobody thought she was going to do Harry/Draco or Harry/Snape or anything of that nature. But Sirius/Remus was not a crack pairing, and honestly, dude, if someone OTHER than JKR had mentioend Dumbledore/Grindelwald--don't tell me you wouldn't have thought THAT was a slashy crack pairing?
