109- I want them to release Daria on DVD so damn badly, but I know it's never going to happen because MTV won't bother trying to pay all the music rights :(

139- HEE! Secretly slashing them was my favorite part of that movie. They were just so cute.

n!s 3- I agree that Great Expectations is overrated. Not one of Dickens' best. It's just blatantly obvious in that book that he was being paid by the word.

Too big 2- Because the epilogue was awful. It was poorly written and JKR was capable of better. It managed to be simeultaneously clinical and saccharine sweet. In a series that focuses so much on war and death, you can never have a fully happy ending. No, I didn't want Harry to die. Yes, I'm glad they all ended up married and blah blah blah. But I can't buy Harry as the perfectly happy family man after all the shit he's gone through.

I love [livejournal.com profile] fera_festiva's analysis of why the epilogue was so hard to swallow at Deathly Hallows Uber-Wank (http://fera-festiva.livejournal.com/43052.html).

I sure hope that if little Al ever asks, "Why did you name me Albus Severus, Daddy? And forget all that bravery crap, I want a proper answer this time," he gets told, "Because it's a nice name. A wizardly sort of name," rather than "Well, the 'Severus' bit comes from this ugly, greasy, quasi-fascist dead guy who wasted his life bullying defenceless students and lusting after my mother. That's who your sister's named after, by the way - my mother. And your brother is named after my dad who - FYI - bullied the guy you're named after, resulting in the guy you're named after hating me while I was a kid - and then got off with my mum. And then the guy you're named after betrayed them both to Lord Voldemort. That, incidentally, is why I grew up a miserable orphan, forced to sleep in a cupboard until I was eleven. That's right - you and your siblings are named after the three main players in a hideous love triangle, all of whom were dead by their mid-thirties. Oh, and the 'Albus' part comes from this queeny lush I knew once. He was killed by that other guy too, and it became a hilarious internet meme, although it was quickly eclipsed by lolcats and the rickroll. Now run along and play with your brother and sister, me and your mum are off to have empty, meaningless sex while I think about Draco Malfoy and she thinks about whether she looks fat. Happy birthday".

Oops, forgot to do 146-

Fanmixes are my absolute favorite type of fan creation. I download ones from fandoms I don't even follow. Character dynamics worked out with music is utterly fab.

TooBig2

Not bad, but I'd replace "queeny lush" with "manipulative bastard". ^_^
{yeah, I know you didn't write that part, I'm just sayin')

TooBig2

Or he could be told that he was named after the two people Harry respected most, in the end?

Seriously, I have no idea why people have a problem with the children being named after other people. I'm named after one of my mothers great aunts and my mother's sister, one of my brothers is named after our great grandfather, and my youngest brother has my father's name. It's extremely common, and it does not mean that we are somehow expected to behave like them, or be influenced by our names in any way. They're our names too, now. Our parents just wanted to show respect and acknowledge certain bonds. It's no big deal.

Otherwise I really disliked the epilogue, but I actually really liked the names.

I haven't a problem with naming children after relatives. My brother and I both were both named after great-grandparents and my dad is named for his dad. There was just something about Harry and Ginny's children all being named after someone that felt trite. Like...rushed sentimentality. I'm willing to bet James' full name is James Sirius Potter or the like (which would, I admit, be sort of cute).

I don't know, maybe it's just that the whole epilogue was already so bad... and then... Albus Severus Potter is just such an unfortunate name...

Also, why are all the kids named after Harry's relatives and not Ginny's? Ginny had a brother who died ín the war.

I think that Albus Severus is a really nice name, actually! The names were pretty much the only part of the epilogue that wasn't bad, I thought. I liked the gesture; I thought it was pretty evident that it was to honour the loved ones who had died.

Of course, I like the wizarding names; I enjoyed the ancient feel of them. Yes, Scorpius too!
