How is your day going?
(Anonymous) 2019-07-27 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)Re: How is your day going?
Then the second one starts. It is a woman going into a gas station to ask the workers what state she is in. And then...she blows his head off with a shotgun. I frantically try to cover my nephew's eyes as the sounds of guns and gore are going on. The people next to us give us a befuddled look.
The trailer is still happening and people are still dying so my sister takes my nephew out. They get out to wait for the trailer to finish and then the It trailer starts. I ask the other people, "This is the Lion King, right?" We were all confused.
My sister is talking to a manager about why the hell R-rated trailers are appearing before a PG movie. He did he doesn't control them. My sister says she understands but they should at least warn viewers.
The entire time I was standing by the door so I could tell my sister when the movie started. It did. It was not The Lion King. It was Crawl. I tell the manager they started the wrong movie. He goes, "Oh! Sorry let me go fix that!"
So we got free tickets and my nephew got to see someone get his head blown off. But at least Disney isn't showing R-rated movies before their movies.

Re: How is your day going?
That manager should take responsibility, it's his damn theater.

It started good; since yesterday the temperature dropped from 40 to 20°C and it's raining (oh what a relief after a heatwave!) but I had to cancel my plans one by one.
I noped out of a movie because my small independant theater has just been bought by a big cinema corporation, I noped out of getting cake because there were to many people already queing at the tea salon and not enough choice left, I noped out of getting a pizza because it required too much social interaction at a second choice place.
I settled for a cheese sandwich, went home, watched half of a Star Trek episode, decided I needed a nap, woke up three hours later and it's getting dark outside, what the hell have I wasted my saturday on??
Well at least now I'm well rested but... weird.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-27 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)I mentioned the other day that someone called the local code enforcement guys on me because one of my hens got out, and they’re sending someone out to check that their coop is spacious and predator proof enough/how the hen escaped. Which, fine. I still don’t know which hen it was, because they’re all accounted for, but there’s nothing wrong with the coop and run.
There’s plenty wrong with the house, though. I inherited it from my mom, who got it from my dad when they divorced, who thought duct tape could fix everything and was once fined $30k for not fixing a bunch of not to code stuff. Both of them made more not to code additions to an already not to code house. I just hope the zoning guy is there strictly to check on the henhouse.
And today,!while double checking spacing requirements, I found out that despite having more than adequate coop/run space, I may have way too many hens. Without following complicated guidelines for property line setbacks, local laws only allow five hens. I have thirteen. The max number of hens allowed is 25 if they’re kept 50 feet from all residential buildings, and 15 hens are allowed if kept 15 feet from property lines or required setbacks, whichever is greater.
My lot is 50’x150’, so if I explain to the zoning guy that I’ll be happy to move the run over (it’s currently right up against the property line), I think I might get off with a warning? Idk. I can’t figure out the “required setbacks” thing.
My aunt initially said she’d take eight of the hens in for the day, but now she says I should just take my lumps and get rid of some, if it comes to that. If I could be sure they’d go to good homes, I would, but every single person who initially said they’d take some when I first got them backed out this time. And I’m wary of giving them away no strings attached because I’ve had people kill and eat hens that I’d hand raised as pets before.
