Haha they truly are. Like pets. Some people love them, some just don't have any interest!

Yeah I've never had a want for kids (currently almost 36) and my parents have always been super cool about it.

I'm forever baffled by the parents who go on and on about 'when do i get GRANDBABIES!!!' as if that's the only reason they had kids in the first place or something.

My mom and dad were never like that, thank gods, and my sister (at 54) and my brother (at 49) are childless, happy, and were never nagged.

I figure parents get hyped about grandkids because they're like secondary children who you get to give back at the end of the day or when they get too fussy. Same reason why I like being an aunt but would dislike being a mother.

That seems like a poor compensation for your child most likely not finishing school or losing many opportunities.

I can understand the urge to get your little bit of immortality by passing things on to another generation of your bloodline. At the same time, I'm glad my own mother (who was never super maternal in the first place) never felt the need to nag, since her grandkids are all cats and that's not likely to change. I like kids well enough, but have never, ever wanted any of my own.

I don't even really get that, since it seems really...weird to me. I'm happy to have my daughter just enjoy her life and not do something she has no interest in (or that i have no interest in, either).

Cats make the best grandkids. :D
