LENNON: It is a diary form of writing. All that "I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved" was me. I used to be cruel to my woman, and physically -- any woman. I was a hitter. I couldn't express myself and I hit. I fought men and I hit women. That is why I am always on about peace, you see. It is the most violent people who go for love and peace. Everything's the opposite. But I sincerely believe in love and peace. I am not violent man who has learned not to be violent and regrets his violence. I will have to be a lot older before I can face in public how I treated women as a youngster.

He beat his wife and children, that song that is completely overplayed at Chiristmas time was written to try and guilt his son to come back to him after he'd escaped his abuse. That comment was one of his many hypocrisies because he never stopped, he just wanted control.

Another fun fact is that I had a literary teacher who knew him vaguely, and in college was asked to find the meanings in some of his songs. He asked Lennon what his thought process was when writing them, and his response was something like: If you figure it out let me know, because I wrote that on three different acid trips, so hell if I know.

I do not like John Lennon, these are things that come up first on a search because I'm not about to spend hours verifying every source. Though I know that while they might seem somewhat clickbait, there are sources within them which do verify the facts. He was a useless, abusive, drug addicted glory seeker.
The Jesus thing came first because you said that he didn't claim to be a saint, and I guess you were right, he actually claimed to be better than one. You don't need to respect religion to see what a self absorbed, egotistical thing that is to say. You can't be that blind.
My secret is about how shitty he is yes, but also that even if he actually was everything he said he claimed to be, he still wouldn't deserve the type of reverence people give him. You asked for why I thought that way, I gave it to you. You're kinda just proving my point on how infallible people think he is by complete disregarding them without a second thought.
