Someone made my comment into a secret, yay :)

(Anonymous) 2019-07-29 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, reading it over again I wanted to mention I am not anti-vegan. I support everyone's personal lifestyle choices about that kind of thing. I'm the same person that made the secret about enjoying the openly vegan Twitch streamer from before, who I respect for not giving a shit about gamer fandom and their dumb "soy boy" jokes.

But like, there's "open about the fact that you are vegan," which the Twitch guy does, which is cool, and then there's "addressing your viewers directly and telling them to go vegan or they're speciesists who don't care about animals," which this Youtube channel started doing all of a sudden, which is gross.

There was also a weird argument by the creator in the comments asking people why they'd adopt a cat, when you could rescue herbivore pets that eat vegetables instead (??????????????) Fans really didn't like that one for obvious reasons

It was weird watching the channel suddenly go off the deep end in real time. I will miss their cute videos :(

Um.........really?
'Herbivore pets' are a bit more specialized and difficult to care for than a cat, and most gerbils (for instance) don't really want cuddles.

And not everybody has a big field or whatever to support a 'rescue cow' or something.

That's a bit silly, yeah.

the way vegans are happy to ignore the circle of life as it were to make out like anything can exist on plants or it doesn't matter is ridiculous and pisses me off.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's not what vegans do. They think people and animals domesticated and brought into this world for human purposes should curb or eliminate consuming and harming other animals as much as possible. They aren't like advocating for the extinction of predators or something. That's absurd.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Uh well this vegan literally said you shouldn't rescue cats and get herbivorous pets instead...

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I mean there also are plenty of idiot vegans who insist you can feed a cat vegan food.

The vegans I have and who are in my political sphere are as I described. I'm glad to hear there are others and I hope more take that frame of mind.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
Vegan here. The militant vegans like the one the OP mentions are an embarrassment to us all. I've made my choices, happy to talk about why if asked. But as far as I'm concerned diet is a personal decision and nobody else's business. Also people who feed cats and dogs no meat are idiots guilty of negligence.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry to disabuse you but lots of them do in fact do exactly that, if only by refusing to acknowledge nature as frequently carnivorous. They are absurd.

And what's wrong with spreading goodness? I think it's very cool this person found something good they are passionate about and are using their popularity to share the message and reach people. Activism is important.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
The behavior mentioned in comment thread above this one would be an example of a wrong way to spread goodness, for example.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
DA

How is it the wrong way? If someone were being racist or sexist, would you just be a quiet example, or would you try to convince them to stop acting that way?

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
TIL adopting a cat is comparable to being racist or sexist and should be spoken out against

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Found the oversensitive vegan

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds exactly like what those young expats who kept biking near my neighborhood trying to throw bibles at us while barely speaking our language did. I almost blame myself for 'revealing' I spoke English when they asked for directions first, and then started asking if I could talk about Jesus, and then later move on to staring at me with a weird smile which frankly freaked me out cause I was a teen girl and they were foreign men and well. I'm sure they were just politely hoping I would change my mind from the whole Jesus thing but to a young girl? STRANGER DANGER.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
Veganism isn't 'goodness'. It's anti science and anti environment. We cannot survive as a species on vegan sources. Planet says no. INFORMED Activism is important. Self-righteous idiocy, no.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-01 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. So much wrong with this comment I can't even

(Anonymous) 2019-08-01 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
... Where do you get your infos?

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
New converts to anything tend to be annoying for a while no matter what the new thought system may be, and some people have personalities that lend themselves to taking that kind of thing way too far for way too long, like the creator of Sinfest. Hopefully this one isn't the latter type and they calm down as time goes on!

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
I eat meat and I don't have any problems with pro-vegan messages.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Don't adopt cats because they eat meat is not just a pro-vegan message. It is a completely insane, trying to force their views onto a world that is made up of meat eating as well as plant eating animals message.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
It's better than "adopt a cat and then feed it vegan food" or "don't adopt pets at all, let PETA put them down rather than be slaves to humans", both of which are real examples. (Though to be fair, a lot of people otherwise supportive of this viewpoint were shocked by what PETA was doing.)

(Anonymous) 2019-07-30 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
If they take over a blog designed for something quite other they can still be annoying. Time and a place.
