You can exclude them in searches, it's not the same as blocking, but it's something.

Can you do that in a persistent way, or do you have to filter every time you do a new search

Depends.

If you start a new Work Search and enter -"AuthorName" into Any Field or Author/Artist and search with that and then when you want search for something else click the Edit Your Search button and change your other parameters, it will stay unless you change it. But if you start a whole new search, you will have to re-input it.

If instead you go to a fandom, say, and then go to the Sort and Filter sidebar and enter -"AuthorName" in the Search within results box under More Options, it will stay as long as you're in the original Works found category you started in. So, if you click a character tag or a new fandom, you'll have to do it again.

But just the negative sign (-) before the name. I don't think you necessarily need the double quotes around the name even, but I tend to use them.

If their ao3 pseud has an underscore e.g. author_name then to filter them out you need to use quotes, so you would enter -"author_name"

If their ao3 pseud is all one word e.g. authorname then you can filter it without the quotes,so -authorname would work
