Could be. But I can't afford to spend money on books that I may or may not like, and I don't have a kindle or whatever.

yeah fair enough!

You are not alone. I agree with all of your points.

It does make me sad, because queer sci-fi is my jam, but honestly, I find so much fic and sci-fi AUs that I'm pretty satisfied.

Right? Me, too.

If someone wanted to rec some good queer sci-fi, and i could find it on, say, Better World Books site for under 5 bucks, I'd spring for a book to see.

And then, if i liked it enough, or didn't like it, i'd offer it up to anyone here who wanted to read, and send it along. Books like to travel!

Elizabeth Lynn's "A Different Light" etc. might suit you? (They're older books, but I think they weather well.)

jsyk, you don't need the kindle hardware. Overdrive lets you borrow e-books from your library and read them on your phone or desktop computer.

If they have one that works on a PC, that's awesome. But I can't use my phone for reading - too small, and it overheats with too much use.

I have no idea of my teeny library would have Overdrive - i'll have to find out.
Ta!

They do -- it's how I read books on my PC.

I think this link should work: https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Digital-Services-LLC-Download/dp/B00UB76290/ref=sr_1_1

Okay, but that's for a kindle ...software? You then have to buy the ebooks, don't you?

There are ones you'd have to pay for, yes, but other then the library there are a number of places to get free ones.
