Sucks for you :/ I’ve read much more god-tier fic than god-tier original stories, likely because I like popular ships usually and so have millions of fics through which to find recs of the best, whereas the book genres I like are much much smaller in quantity and therefore quality.

If you’re having trouble finding good fic for a ship you like, try following people whose taste you trust and asking them for recommendations.
