Okay, there is one way I could accept this: Finn is stuck in a wardrobe somewhere and there's so many clothes, but he reaches out one hand, somehow drawn...to a magnificent cape. He cannot resist! Something within him cries out for a cape!

Then Lando shows up and say, "Oh, hey, you must be my kid, nice!"

I could get behind this if it's revealed that Lando just roams the universe adopting anyone he sees being badass and wearing a coat
