I think that "jock who becomes a cop" is a slangy and not entirely serious way to reference a general cultural position, and also, I think reacting that way to Harry Potter does not necessarily have to be rooted in a material analysis of British culture (because Lord knows Harry Potter more generally is not).

But we don't have that stereotype of our police force. Fascists are the outlier. Moat of our policofficers are pretty solid on the whole. I think it's because they're not running round with guns.

I'm not sure if you're saying that Harry Potter is or isn't rooted in British culture? Because it rather obviously is....
