I agree. I also like that Jafar is more posturing than menacing - it fits him more & makes a nice parallel to Al.

I didn't think the additional backstories and plots added anything in Beauty and the Beast but I haven't seen Aladdin yet to comment. Beauty and the Beast felt waaaaaay too long so hopefully Aladdin managed that better.

Agreed. Really didn't like the remake of Beauty and the Beast (the original was much better).

They removed most of the stuff that was considered offensive/fetishy in the original too. And Genie did't inexplicably keep his powers just so he could essentially continue to serve Aladdin, they actually freed him.

i really loved this adaptation and i'm sad that people (in my surroundings) were so dismissive of it.
