This was an argument in the 80s as well. They do seem to bring it back every decade, or whenever it suits their side of the issue.

Well, they have to come up with something. Anything. If they don't, they'd have to admit that the racism and hate that they are inciting and the lack of gun laws is what is causing this, and they would have to admit that this country needs stronger gun laws. And they can't do that, so they need to come up with excuses to blame that naive, willfully ignorant people like themselves will believe.
